General information
- The verb ‘ser’ is irregular and can be an auxiliary or main verb.
- ‘ser’ also has some regular forms; the highlighted (bold) ones are those that deviate from the regular ‘er’ conjugation.
- Once you know the conjugation, you can complete exercise 1 on ‘ser’.

Note: The Pretérito Anterior (not shown) is no longer used today. It has practically been replaced by the Pretérito Pluscuamperfecto, which fulfils the same function.
Infinitive and imperative forms of ‘ser’
Careful: Spanish has two imperative forms, one for positive instructions and one for negative ones. Additionally, they need to be conjugated according to the grammatical person or subject:

The infinitive is the base form of the verb and is used similarly to English. The participle is required to form the tenses. Be aware that the Spanish gerundio usually replaces the English progressive form and not solely the gerund:
