Exercise 1: present perfect simple

(Practise using and conjugating the present perfect simple)

Present perfect simple – cloze test (difficulty: 2 of 5 – rather easy)

Put the verb in brackets in the correct form of the present perfect simple. Do not use any short forms (contractions), and negate the statement when ‘not’ is mentioned in brackets too. Remember that you need the participle or 3rd form (past participle) of the verb.

  • Example: “Marcus has written three letters. He ________ the fourth one yet.” (not finish) → “He has not finished the fourth one yet.”
